Five for Friday - Last Day of July!

Well, folks, I've been on a little bit of a blog hiatus. I took a step away to finish up a show at the community theater I work for, move my classroom (I'm moving out of the portable!), and to just try to wrap my head around back to school season. That being said, I figured today would be a GREAT day to start back up again with a Five for Friday!! Thanks for the linky, Doodle Bugs!

My husband and I usually try to do a weekly date night especially during the school year so we can actually spend time together. Our work schedules tend to be a bit weird together... Over the summer we did some cool stuff! We recently did a couple's painting class and as nerdy as that sounds... it was SUPER FUN.

And now we have this really cool double painting thing to hang up! The place we went to is called Painting with a Twist. I think it's a franchise, so check it out. There might be one near you.

I mentioned a moment ago that I'm moving out of the tiny portable to a BIG classroom with a Smart Board! I am insanely excited about it, but I gotta tell you... moving a classroom is worse than moving your house... I swear. Yesterday I spend ALL DAY organizing my books and it's not even done! Here are a couple of very messy shots of some crafty things I've been up to to get this room up and running. When it's done (IF it EVER gets done...) I'll post some photos and I'll do a Periscope tour!

Ants for the "Word Picnic" word wall.

This was the beginning of my ABC Caterpillar when I cut the pieces out at home.

I put it up... but am SO upset about the glare on the laminating!!! I thought laminating it would be the best idea but the glare is HORRIBLE everywhere in the room from that row of ceiling lights. I really don't want to print them out again (that's a LOT of ink).... please someone tell me you have advice for me here...

I started with the proud wall. This classroom doesn't have wall space because of the cabinets, so I thought I'd jazz up the cabinets themselves. I'm not sure I love it yet, but I think when there's work actually hanging from them, it will look nicer.

I had to take a picture of the supplies. I got those little flowers at Tuesday Morning in my town and they were 99 cents for 8 little fabric flowers! What a steal!

I found a really neat linky over at The Tattooed Teacher and I am loving the posts people are writing! It's a get-to-know-you linky which is always super fun to do at the start of each year. I'm finding a lot of new blogs to read up! Here's my day 1, a little late... and I'll be doing more when they get posted at her blog!

Click any of the images to go to the linky! If you are a blogger, link up! It's a fun one. ;)

This summer at the Ocala Civic Theater where I work in the Education Department was a HUGE one for the kids. I directed and choreographed the kid's musical called We Are Monsters (more about that HERE), and I choreographed the BIG youth musical Into the Woods. There was a lot of excitement around this show because of the movie, but it has been around for a LONG time and it is immensely difficult. Music by Stephen Sondheim is no walk in the park, my friends. That being said, the teens in the show have worked their tails off and the show is absolutely stunning. I am so proud of them. I've known a lot of them since they were kiddos and their hard work for this show has blown my mind. Here are some beautiful pictures of them in their costumes. I'm telling you, the quality of this production exceeded my expectations and that of the audiences that have seen the show. This is the last weekend it's running and I will miss these guys until next summer!

And now to overwhelm you with photos from the show. I couldn't pick just one! But I saved you from posted all 9 million...

And now for some news I've been so excited to give, I can hardly contain myself! My blog is getting a HUGE makeover! I've been working with Blogs Fit for a Queen and I cannot wait till till it's done to show you! With that news, there **might** be a celebration surprise in the works for my readers when the blog makeover is complete!

Persicope Teachers!

Have you heard of Periscope, yet? I'm LOVING it. Like I don't have enough social networking sites to keep up with, right? But seriously, Periscope is taking the teacher world by STORM and it is addicting!

I did my first Periscope today, so if you stopped by, thanks! It was a LOT of fun. I was super nervous about it, but it was so cool to interact with the viewers (even though there were only 12 lol) and to show you all around my work space. Not only that, but Daisy made an appearance! ;)

Here's a little more info on Periscope and why I like it:

- It's an easy to navigate app for Apple and Android.
- I can watch LIVE videos of my favorite teacher bloggers
- Myself and others can interact with the person who is "scoping" with the chat feature
- When I do my own scope, I can answer questions that are being asked in my scope's chat
- I can SEE my favorite teacher bloggers
- I can SHOW you instead of just writing about something

It was a blast. If you do not already have Periscope, download it now for free and find me at DaisyDesignsTpT. You can watch the replay of my first scope if you missed it.

Sunday Scoop on Mom's Birthday

Happy Sunday! And happy birthday Mom!!!

I'm here after a crazy busy two weeks of rehearsing for the summer musical at the Ocala Civic Theater. I was contracted this summer to direct and choreograph the show We Are Monsters and it was AWESOME! It was hands down the best cast of kids I've ever worked with. I could NOT believe they were as dedicated as they were. And even with the stomach bug that floated around, we had a fabulous run of shows and the kids were amazing. I am SO proud of them!

And now for a Sunday Scoop! Day OFF style!

NEED TO DO:

Being so busy for the past two weeks means that chores have just NOT happened. At ALL.

Today is my mom's birthday and I had this plan on making something for her that I know she will love.  But with all the hubbub, it got started and never finished! I gotta finish today! She's actually really sick today with the stomach bug that was I referring to so we won't really be celebrating today so she can feel better first. But I still want the present to be done (photos will be posted, don't worry) so I can give it to her ASAP!

REST. HOLY COW DO I NEED TO REST. I am thoroughly exhausted from the run of this show and still have Into the Woods to help finalize (I choreographed this show). This whole rest thing bumped up to a NEED real quick today.

HOPE TO DO:

Finish creating a product that I've been working on. I've been dabbling on a product that I'm really excited about and I'd like to finish it today, but it is not a priority. Sleep is.

I am planning on going to work in my classroom sometime this week and unpack the stuff that is crammed in my closet. I moved classrooms and nothing is unpacked yet. I'd like to start printing and laminating some wall decorations today, but we will see.

HAPPY TO DO:

I am going to the 10th anniversary of Motion City Soundtrack's "Commit This to Memory" album!!!!!! Any other MCS fans out there? Man, the nostalgia.... And it will be my bestie's first ever concert! (WHAT?!?!) I can't wait!

Make Your Masterpiece Sunday

Happy Sunday everyone! I hope everyone had a marvelous holiday yesterday. I'm still enjoying the holiday weekend myself. :)

This post is a combo post! A Make Your Masterpiece post and a Sunday Scoop! Enjoy!

Last week the ladies hosting the fabulous TpT Seller Challege issued week 3's challenge: Make Your Masterpiece. I was SO insanely busy at the theater last week that I had to wait till this weekend to even get started! I teach at a community theater and the summer is the busiest time for the kids. I've been working 12-14 hour days at the theater all week! But only one more week left. I got this!

Anyway... this week's challenge:

As some of you know, I have a series of packs that supplement the Reading Wonders series for Kindergarten. I used them daily last year teaching Kindergarten, however, I did not start creating them until Unit 5! Half way through the school year. Well, I will be teaching second grade next year and I have been debating whether or not to create Units 1-4 for my store. The answer came quickly in a question from a buyer on my store. She said that she loved my previous units and was wondering if I could create the missing units. Although it was a lot of work that I will not personally get to use next year, I could not disappoint her and the other teachers who purchase the Wonders units! So, I created Unit 1!

Includes:
Sight Word Cut and Paste
Sentence Builders
Sentence Starters
Poetry Activities (12 total)
Flash Cards and Practice Cards (black and white and in color)
Phonics Activities (8 total)
Phonics Board Games (3 total)
Labeling Activities (highly differentiated)
Handwriting Activities
Writing Activities (with picture dictionary)
Blank Lesson Plan Sheets
Pre-made Lesson Plans
Binder Covers (variety in black and white and in color)
Essentail Question Posters (full page and half page, black and white and color)

UNIT 1 ONLY BONUS CONTENT included!!!

Unit 1 includes some bonus content that I'm thrilled to share! I will leave it as a surprise though. But here's a hint: Unit 1 is the beginning of the year unit... so the bonus content is only something that can be used at the beginning of the school year!

Click any of the images above to check it out in my store! It will be on sale through Wednesday July 8th!

And now, for my favorite linky of course:

July Currently!

Thanks, Farley, for another monthly Currently! What are ya'll up to this 4th of July?!

LISTENING:
My best friend Heather and I switched tunes the other day and we are addicted to music right now. As I type this, CAKE is on, which makes me so happy because my CAKE collection didn't make it to my computer years ago.

LOVING:
I'm pretty sure this section of the Currently is always COFFEE.

THINKING:
My holiday is pretty lame this year. I usually get together with family and/or friends and do the whole fireworks thing, but I am thoroughly EXHAUSTED. Yesterday ended the first week of the summer theater production that I am directing AND choreographing. Basically that means that Monday through Friday, I am dancing, directing, playing, jumping, exercising, and having a ball with 25ish kids from 9-4:30 and then dancing again from 6-8 with the teenagers. Soooooo, I'm going to celebrate America from the comfort of my home and love me some Netflix.

WANTING:
All that being said in the THINKING section, I am making myself go to the gym this morning but the usual 24 hour gym is only open till 1pm today for the holiday, so I'm waking up, having my coffee and breakfast, and getting there. I hate it now, but I will be proud of myself later. I wish I was more of a morning person. If I could manage getting to the gym at midnight, I would prefer it over any time before noon....

NEEDING:
Dear Lord, my allergies are serious today. Living in Florida during the summer, means huge afternoon storms every. single. day. These storms stir up everything I'm allergic to and man, did I wake up with a bad case of the scratchy throat today!

ALL STAR:
I am an all-star at getting things done last minute. Seriously. And I'm not talking about throwing things together last minute. I'm talking about completing things that should take several days in a few hours and fooling the people around me that I did in fact spend a entirety on it. I can plan an entire summer camp in a couple of hours. I can choreograph multiple dances and remember them without writing them down (most of the time) in a couple of hours. In my high school and college days, I could write an A+ paper in less than an hour while my friends slaved at their laptops for days. It can be a pretty handy dandy skill. But, I will tell you, I get a little stressed when I'm doing it. I don't usually fail at this last minute thing, but I can't say it's never happened before lol.
